Town Centre Library open!

other photos on the blogAt 9.30am this morning the Mayor, Maureen Fearn, cut the ribbon and declared the new Library open! This has been a long campaign and many folk did not believe that we would win through. Nevertheless with the support of the people of Southport we did. Special mention must go to Jean Alexander who was the public face of the campaign and who did not shirk from standing out in the cold collecting signatures or speaking to council meetings. We should also mention the Visiter and in particular the Editor. His enthusiam for the project was a key factor in our success. More information and photographs are on the Birkdale Blog for today.
